I was extremely lucky on this hit as the beach had been worked by 5 other wh'r all the labor day weekend and usually I would have been the sixth, but I was busy with a tennis tournament & social, among other things and could not get out until Mon evening. I only got about $3 and change, then a 10kt ring which was lucky enough on it's own, and then about 10 ft away I found the watch, which gave a funny type of signal, maybe because of the stainless steel in it. It just might be that a couple of the other hunters using 1280's, discriminated it out ? as I know they left bottle caps. Because it was almost dark, I took a fast look at the watch, decided it was probably a fancy Walmart $25 special, and put it in my pouch.
When I got home, I was occupied getting out of my wet suit, and only glanced at the watch to see if it was still going, which it was, so I tossed it back down and was drying off when my wife exclaimed " did you know this is a Rolex " and the rest is history.
Never expected to find one up here, thought maybe Caribean or big resort areas, you never know I guess.
If your wondering why I xxx out the last name & address, I don't think it's a smart idea to post those personal identifications on the net.
