Odd star (SOLVED)

Found this odd tid bit in an area with a house thats being torn down soon to make way for a parking lot, Shame on that. The place sits in a site that had seen Civil war activity, flooding twice, and now sits in the middle of town. Have went there a lot before finding lots of old foil milk bottle lids and various other brick a brack but nothing I could say was too interesting. Atm they are waitng to have a specialist come in to remove asbestos from the house to tear it down, but the did already clear a lot of topsoil to level out the ground around it which has given me a bit different finds now. Older metal lipstick tubes and the like, kids marbles, and a few wheat pennies oldest being 1929.

star.webp I'm kinda thinking this could be a kids star badge or maybe something off of a horses harness. Appears to be made of a copper like substance and the back of it is smooth on the star and grooved where the ring around it is. Still like it no matter what it turns out to be though. Thanks for any info ahead of time.:laughing7:

I think I can see a bit of writing peeking through, which would answer this quickly. A gentle cleaning perhaps?

It looks to me as though it's a horse decoration, used on saddle blankets, hames covers, etc. ..check to see if there were attachment wires on the back .. they may be missing, but evidence should still be there.

My initial guess was toy Texas Ranger badge, US Marshall, Long Ranger etc.

After trying to clean it a bit in a peroxide solution it didn't bring out any engraving or lettering, but on the back there is a few places that could have been tack spots or wiring nubs so I'd say this is probabley right. Thanks for the info!
