Hey all. I'm new here! Firstly, I found this on a remote beach on a perimeter island (loc: gulf of mex). It looks like it's been tumbled pretty good for a long time; some pitting as well. I can tell it's definitely a cast. At first I thought it was a crucifix, or maybe a weird demented ash tray. Ultimately I thought it was aluminum cans melted down, I know people have beach fires. However, I brought it to the local jewler (tongue in cheek when I walked in) in town and they said it was silver. Has anyone seen something similar? What should my next move be? Submit it to a historian or what?

Object thickness approx 1"

Update: I forgot to add the back side of it (to show it was a cast)

That's about 10 melted aluminum cans

Tested silver and its heavy, like silver, and not light like aluminum?
Sure looks like a campfire nugget to me as well.

Did the jeweler test it or did he tell you it's silver without testing?

Fire nugget.

For those of you who do not know what a "fire nugget" is...
Its aluminum that has been melted.

So, you're telling me it isn't a holy relic from the Atocha? Hmm.. well, did they drink Pepsi back then? Rats. Well I guess I gotta keep searching. Thanks for the responses.

Don’t get discouraged, keep at it. Good finds will come your way.

If it's truly silver, and the jeweler is willing to give you a decent price for it, I'd sell it in a heartbeat. Where is this jeweler? I have a 5 gallon bucket of melted aluminum that I'd like him to test! :laughing7:
