D.Day,

Your last xmsn came in broken and unreadable. Say again all after "can anyone help on" - over.

Standing by.

(Links busted, dude!)

If you get a chance post up a photo of the opposite side and an edge or two in addition to your first photo.

And a general location.

Your hand provides enough scale.

Still blundering check for photo now thank you

And your location, por favor...

Need more photos to make a call? I am so new its not funny. My detect has been new penny's, bottle caps and foil

and one bent mercury dime

congrats on the silver dime. It took 9 months for me to find my first

Thank you What do you think of my photos

I'd say the coloration is pretty spot-on with the usual Iowa diorite/granite or gabbro... But your states DNR lists basalt as extremely common... So perhaps that is also a possibility.

Although diorite was commonly used for stone tools, your example appears to be a typical water/glacial worn cobble. No defined utilization wear to any one area, simply smoothed in general.

Thanks for sharing it!

I hear ya, don't give up!
Your state is well known for artifacts of the same composition.

P.S. Stick around awhile here on TNET - if you haven't caught the artifact-hunting bug yet, you will after browsing the finds that come out of Iowa!
