Some odd crystals I have found while looking for gold in hand samples on my property. The small red one I thought was a garnet that fell out of some schist until I seen the shape. I have never seen that crystal structure in a garnet before. The silver one I believe is pyrite. Again odd crystal shape. The third one is different. Looks like a crystal was dissolved and a different mineral was formed in the shell of the old crystal? All conjecture, any ideas?

Garnet and pyrite are correct for the first two. The garnet I would say is a modified duodecahedral, Garnet_03.gif and here the link I got that from : Garnet: The mineral Garnet information and pictures

As to the last one I'm pretty sure its chalcedony with mossy growths of quartz crystals running thru it and that one is quite nice. Good pictures
