I have a couple of those from a Civil War site in Missouri, only much larger. The troops poured their own lead bullets. This appears to be slag from the pouring operation. Mine still have the circular motion to them from the round mold. Yours appears to have a curve to it, too. Some soldier's overpour. Good job!

Thanks all. I think it probably is from cast lead. Found a lot of melted and flatten bullets as well.
