✅ SOLVED Odd layered small double axe head

Most of what I know of this type is from the link below, which (if I've extracted the right information) would indicate that it was likely made in the mid to late 1800's, and is not surprisingly (due to where it was found) called a Michigan pattern axe. It seems to have been made pretty crudely though (likely locally) which makes me wonder if it isn't constructed like earlier axes which were mostly iron with just the cutting edges being steel. But by the time this type of axe was coming into use steel was readily available, so I guess I mention it only because it almost looks to have iron like layers.
