I just found a half that is real shiny at first I thought it was a proof. It has "1960" stamped into the coin on the left side of jfk and "1980 on the other side. The rim shows no trace of copper, it looks silver but it's a 83P.
I could swear I just read a post like this recently but I can't find it.
Anyone know who else found one, or what it is?

Lots of people have found them, there are a few posts on here about them. I have no idea who did it or for what reason. It was explained to me that 1960 was the year of JFK's inauguration and 1980 would've been the 20 th anniversary, but I have no idea of what the signifigance is.

Good thing they only guaranteed the price for 30 days, I'd hate to think there were alot of them out there..... LOL! ;)

Thanks Gypsy!

It was probably my post you were referring to - I couldn't find it either. Found a bunch of these for sale on eBay and I thank Gypsyheart and the others for showing me where they came from originally.

I found one yesterday in my two boxes I ordered. However, it is an 1985 P and it has the date stampted 1960 1985. It has a proof like silver finish on it. It doesn't look like it was done at the mint as the dates were stamped or pressed on the coin.

Thanks for posting the ad picture gypsyheart. Thats the one I found also so it's nice to have a little background info on it.

It's electroplated with 24K gold,so how much gold is that exactly. LOL They sold them for $5.99, I wonder how many were made.

I've found 3 more since first posting this... all in the same box but diffrent rolls.
