odd find metal detecting, large metorite? plz help to identify

found in field out of eauclaire county wi, the silver material is slightly magnetic , specimen is large and very heavy for its size and extremely dense . overall very strange I am a coin and relic hunter and know very little about minerals ect. please help and greatly appreciated!!!!

I could be wrong but it appears to be a piece of a meteorite that broke up upon impact and has been weathering for a very long time! I would recommend contacting a Geology Department of a University or College nearby to have it checked out. If it turns out to be a piece of a meteorite, you should go back to the area where it was found and try to locate to other piece of it and/or possibly others that impacted in that location.

Thanks for the Info, I read the whole article and am amazed at the mining history here I hunt real close to big falls and the fall creek area. thanks again

After further inspection It does have distinct red spots and stripes that are a major indicator of hematite in the stone. but Im still curious on how the silver material seems to be melted in the center. I have a "rock expert" that is a friend of a friend looking at it this weekend.
