Backhoe bucket teeth are hollow and fit over an armature and are held on with pins or wedges. Replacing teeth is a common job here where I work.

This was found at a site that was a plantation until the late 1700s when it was abandoned. It has been a wooded site ever since and was never farmed; to me the gate finial theory makes the most sense; but I do appreciate your input as always.
