I don't know, but I have to question - is the character giving V for Victory or sending a message? :o

My GF (ie Gut Feeling, slightly different to a WAG :tongue3:)
A token possibly related to the Martial Arts

It looks Japanese. Isn't that a Pagoda? :icon_scratch:

yes the building is some sort of (asian culture) pagoda type building design -- yes the folded leg monk looking guy is giving the v for victory or peace sign ---no I do not know what langauage the stuff written on it is --- I found the coin in the 12 for a buck bargin coin box at a coin dealer -- it was so odd I felt I had to have it --- now I'm trying to figger out just what the heck it is that I got?

The writing could be Sanscrit.

The monk shown may be the Buddha. When the two fingers are held up, he is blessing.

Definitely an unusual coin.

Nice find!

One of them there hippy, longhair Peace-Niks, commie's coin. Or, if English, the Fat One is giving you the finger. Actually, it's a cool piece, and I'm hoping you find out anything about it. I'm gonna try and do some research on it, as well.

I noticed that the first two words (characters) are almost the same on the front as on the back. The second word on the front is identical to the last word on the back. unk copper edit.webp

It is - In my opinion - a coin depicting two Chinese Idioms... four charactors each side...

The language is Chinese... example below.

There are between 5,000 and 20,000 chinese idioms out there... there are posted too - I just can't see searching them all for the right ones! Also - if I'm wrong, it's a HUGE waste of time... :tongue3:

Someone may try to google "temple token"...I dunno...or search the Zeno database. If they dont have it, you could send them a pic. There are 60,000 oriental coin pictures to look at! I suggest searching Far East/ China/ tokens or Coin-like souvenirs
Modern production for tourists.

I think this is solvable.

Ivan, time to go get some Chinese Food. I'm sure it can be identified there. If not....Enjoy the food.

Ivan - I don't think it's "ancient"... but it's certainly an unknown.
