I have an odd piece of iron that I was hoping someone could ID. It weighs just over a pound. About 5/8" thick with the letters M. W. W. raised.

My best guess was that a bolt goes through the hole, and was maybe a cover for an old sidewalk water shutoff? Maybe the WW stands for water works?

Before I read anything, saw the pic and figured the 2 w's were for water works. So guess that's pretty well nailed down.

Now, where are you/where was the piece found?

I'm in NH, but found it in Concord, so somebody probably carried it from Manchester or Merrimack. Or Milwaukee or Maidstone.

Thanks for the help.
