Hello. Seems a bit odd posting today but just waiting for folks to get here to open stuff so here goes.

I found these at a 1910 site and at first didn't think much of them but they are brass and pretty stoutly constructed so I am guessing they are not modern. One still has a piece of a wooden dowl inside it so they must have been used for....??

Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.

They used to make jointed wood shotgun cleaning rods with ends somewhat like these?

Hello pistol-pete. Thanks for the great ID, this makes perfect sense as I have found a lot of vintage (1890's to 1930's) shot shell brass on this site.

The old-timers down here in FL sure loved their shotguns...most of the sites I dig are 1880 to 1920's "Cracker" sites and old shot shells are always present. They are not worth anything but I love finding them.

Merry Christmas and HH.

I love the old shells also. That's about all I find in this area, by the hundreds. Mostly rifle/pistol but some shotshell.

We find a few old rifle and pistol empties here but we dig way more vintage shotshell ammo. A lot of FL was probably jungle in the old days so I bet scatter guns were preferred if you wanted to hit anything.
