Odd brass dagger looking thing???

K guys, this is an odd one. It is thick brass with a nice green patina. It has edges & a point similar to a dagger. My buddy found the complete one & I found a piece to one. This came from a late 1700s site but was also inhabited until the early 1900s Any help would be appreciated!

To me it looks like a primitive ornamental brass fence final. And the cross bar would have gone through the square hole to the next one's in the fence section? HH

Is it triangular? If so, maybe a Fusetto.

Fusetto = Artillery dagger. The blade is graduated and serves as an aid to battery operations.
