Hello All. I found this yesterday at a 1910 home site. When I dug it up I assumed it was an old brass tire valve cap but on cleaning it I noticed that it must be something else. It does have fine thread inside but it is much thicker than a valve stem cap and has a machined hole it its side wall running from to bottom that does not go through to the inside of the cap.

Please let me know if you have an idea on this one and thank for looking.

Early stop & waste cap to a valve ?

Maybe some type of Valve cap of some type with a locking pin.....Just a guess.........................HH

... or perhaps it isn't a cap at all, but rather a knob similar to these:
