It appears to be hand forged . It's 15 inches long . The handle area is 1/2 inch thick .

The area above the blade is flared from it being pounded . I thought it might be a type of Froe for making shingles , but the blade is only 6" . it weighs over 4 pounds .

I used it to chop some kindling - works wicked good!

by shingle maker are you talking about a froe?or frow?s that its not. a froe had a loop made into one end of the steel to hold a wooden handle.
