Hi folks,

Been busy lately, however found a few today. I also found this odd shaped argillite stone with a perfect hole drilled through it. Any ideas of possible artifact. Could be broken. No idea on my part.

Thanks in advance..

P.s. it seems that I'm at fishtail ground erosion level. I have found 4 orient Fishtails in 2 days. Unreal. The argillite fishtail depicted is fluted on one side.

Chris

I suspect the hole is from fossil that fell out, can you post better picture of hole showing inside hole

Definitely looks like a drilled hole. Large threading possible. Hard to tell. Best pic of hole I could get.
Thanks

Uniface, I just looked up crinoid column. That is spot on. Thank you. Thank you as well treasure hunter.

It still looks like it was worked a bit. Broken edges. Possibility it intrigued the natives and they started to work it. However, I'm learning!

No crinoid fossils are found in either Barrington Argillite, from RI, or Nantasket Argillite from Ma. No crinoid fossils at all are known from RI., and I don’t believe any are known from Ma., FWIW....

This is definitely found in RhodeIsland. Hours ago. Does this mean a drilled hole??
I'm stumped now..

no, that is not what a drilled hole would look like

Hole doesn't looked drill from what I can see in picture.

Thanks for the input everyone. Will visit local museum soon, as its opened I believe. Have a few questions of other finds as well. However, I believe the fossil hole is correct.
