odd arrowhead

I found this in a plowed field. Definitely not natural but unlike arrowheads I have seen. Not even sure of the material. Could it be heat treated coral or just stone.

Does it look like stone to you guys. Is there a way to tell stone verse bone verse coral or shell?

It's 100% a natural stone. In your post you say it definitely isn't natural. What about the stone leads you to believe it's been altered by man?

What part of California are you in? I have seen some killer pieces from out that way made from Obsidian, Quartz, Basalt, etc. You really need to concentrate on those types of materials because that is what the "Arrowheads" would be made from.

Check out these pictures of my tray of California artifacts. This is what you need to look for. These are from the southern part of the state, the middle, and the extreme north in the Great Basin area.

Hi Twitch yeah my mistake I shouldn't have said that. My thoughts were the notch looked man made also where the divots are it is recessed.

you are in a prime area for quality lithic material....you won't be finding second rate stone where you are.
