ok, so I'm new to ALL of this. so I hope I'm doing it right. Just got my Equinox 800 a couple months ago and am really enjoying learning it. Our house was built in 1918, so there's lots of neat stuff underground! I have pulled up a bunch of wheat pennies and even a 1903 Barber dime (almost wet my pants... first and so far only silver coin). BUT, my yard, and several others in our town that I've been hunting, have THESE guys... they ring in at 26-28 but sometimes when I spin around them the ID changes to 17 briefly, then right back up to ~ 27. So I dig them hoping for a silver dime... then these pop up.
slightly smaller than a penny, appear to be copper or brass. Have "C.G HUSSEY & CO PGH.PA" impressed on them. the posts coming out the back are of varying lengths and are almost always bent. I searched that and found the copper and brass company in Pittsburg PA, but even looking through one of their antique catalogues I found online, I can't find what there guys are. Hopefully they're worth something (which I'd bet almost anything they're NOT) as I've dug several dozen.

Welcome to Tnet

I don't know is this is what you call them in the States, but they look like what we would call copper "tail rivets" and generally used for securing roofing tiles or slates.
