i found this object about 2-4 feet underground at a house built by the owner of Ben's Bread in the early 1900's. the house was used for the 1st class in WW11 (1939-1945) which would be majors and stuff like that. it has a weaved pattern on both sides one side is shiny like a gold or brass colour the other side it is a dark green. there are no markings that i can see. i appreciate any help like what it is, how old it is or anything like that, thanks

Green color sounds like patina. Could be copper too. Looks handmade, and that deep is a good indication of age. Almost looks like a buckle. Will be following this post.

:hello: Welcome to tnet!
Your item looks like there is some faint gold gilding still showing. I would say it looks like a later 19 century pocket purse.

What kind of detector are you using that would pick that thing up at 4 feet?

Looks like some midget lost her purse. Hopefully you don't come across her arm!

I think it would be a lot easier and quicker to jump the fence, especially before the wall goes up.
