I'd not heard of this before. But njal's thread on term limits also had a link to Rand Paul's website which noted this. So, I essentially Googled and found tons of articles about this - shocking! This article is just one of those.

OBAMA WILL SEEK THIRD TERM | Weekly World News

President Obama is beginning the process to amend the Constitution to allow him to run for a third term.

WWN learned that the White House and President Obama’s campaign machine have a “foolproof” plan for the President to successfully achieve a third (and perhaps a fourth) term in office.

“President Obama only faces opposition in the House,” a White House insider told WWN. ”Barack plans to divide the Republicans in the House and so weaken them that in 2014, the Democrats will once again be the majority. After that he will introduce an amendment to repeal the 22nd amendment, which limits the President’s term in office.”

Chris Matthews of CNBC is already pushing the idea and said on the air that he thinks Obama will successfully pass an amendment doing away with the 22nd Amendment.

Many in Washington feel that if President Obama can get the amendment on the docket, he can successfully get two-thirds of the states to ratify it. ”The President is extremely confident that he can get the necessary states to ratify the amendment and then he can run for office in 2016 and 20120.”

Sources say that President Obama believes that his plan is already working. The Republicans in Congress are having a Civil War over the Fiscal Cliff. “President Obama’s master plan is working,” reportedly said top adviser, David Axelrod.

President Obama has long felt that the 22nd Amendment was put in place in a hasty manner and only in response to FDR’s death. ”The amendment is ridiculous. There are no Congressional term limits, why should there be a Presidential term limit?” said Axelrod.

Republicans are furious that the President would even contemplate this idea. A number of groups are already pulling out the old buttons:

Overturning the amendment would require a two-thirds vote by both chambers of Congress, followed by ratification of the proposal by 38 states. The White House predicts this will happen in 2015.

Do some searches for this on your own!!!

I don't doubt for a nano second his desire.
Cruz and Lee in 16!

2/3 of both houses AND 3/4 of all the states would have to ratify it before Nov 2016, you will never get that in 2 years.

If it were to ever happen it would indeed be time to lock and load. We do not have Kings or dictators.

I am against any one being eligible for more than 2 terms Rep or Dem....

The source is the Weekly World News. Sheesh. I think that shoots down alot of credence.
Now if bat-boy was running for office, that'd be a different story.

Actually, if you Google the subject, you'll find page after page of articles about that.

The one which caused me to Google it from the beginning was on Rand Paul's site linked on njal's thread about term limits.

The Weekly World News was just the first one I went to, and posted here.....

If you look Serrano has introduced this constitutional amendment in every Congress since 1997 — stretching back to Bill Clinton and George W. Bush’s presidencies.

Remember if it was repealed it would make Bush Jr eligible to run again too, as well as Bill Clinton..

This is one scenario I am not overly concerned about at the moment, you would never get 38 states to pass it, much less 2/3s of the House.

This is just another example of what happens when an ideologue, who has never held a viable job until the present, doesn't want to give up his power base. He entered office with a decent living, but has parlayed his position into being a multi-millionaire, yet yoy don't see him looking to redistribute his wealth......I only wish that I had the golden parachute, and the lifetime income he will have when he leaves office! I[ve hqad to work for mine, and still make enough to pay him....Gary

Here's the problem with your link:

You are attempting to debunk a website which is dedicated to "debunking things". Snopes backs up all of its claims with sources and citations.

Your little link sends us to a blog by some random guy. If you read it, it is basically just a rant that links to other blogs and youtube videos.

Opinions prove nothing and debunk nothing.

Try again.

This argument is simply talking points from the administration that is used to mitigate the effects of that evil 1st Ammendment.

The 1st May be uncomfortable at times. But what happens when "Accredited Journalists"(whose jobs are paid for by Soros, Buffet, or through a bailout employed by the government) decline to report on events, or the truth? Do the sheep just decide everything is rumor or opinions because the official gov. spokesmouth did not comment on the event?

Not sure what makes you so qualified to say half the things you say, such as declare that my argument is "talking points from the administration".

Please, Dave, tell me some more about my own personal thoughts and how my own ideas/statements are not my own.

Opinions are protected by the 1st, but that certainly doesn't make them any more true/factual.

I listen to a LOT of news,, and when I hear talking points over and over I actually start to see the similarities in the dissemination of these bullet points. After awhile you can even spot them when they are not totally relating to the actual subject they have been inserted into.

Call it a gift JB.
