I found a new site. Ironically its right across the road from my house. No idea why I have never detected there before. My copy of a 1936 county map shows nothing there. I was hoping that it would turn out to be REALLY old. My grandparents moved here in the early 1960's and there was no trace of a house or anything there. Something was there. A few shards of broken glass, ceramic, etc here and there/ My first 4 coins ('40, '44, '44D wheaties, '40 nickel) suggest it isn't as old as I was hoping. I ventured out further and dug a 1902-O Barber dime in VG or better condition. Only my second Barber, and my first ever O-mintmark. I suppose that it wouldn't be uncommon for a 1902 coin to be in circulation in the '40s or '50s. Plenty of coins in circulation today older than it would have been then. Also found a big marble NOT made of glass. Looks like rock to me. Could be clay I suppose. Wonder if its Native American? Gonna hit it hard this weekend weather permitting. HH everyone.
