Went out a bit today with little man again to see if we could find anything, in an old pecan field.
Right off the bat he pulls this brass tag. Has a name and a number. O.M. Franklin Serum CO(58).
In 1916 O. M. Franklin, a veterinarian, developed the first successful blackleg vaccine. I enjoy these kind of finds that come with so much history, for myself and Little man.
Other than that, some old nails, few coins, and a few shotgun shells.
Take care all,

Zach N Bama

Very nice! Interesting history on the tag. I inoculate my cattle against blackleg every year, but was ignorant to the origins of the vaccine. .. Now I know! Thanks!
