Just got back from a two hour hunt. Found Large Cent Number 6 of the season. (only the second target of the day). Pulled it out of a public park that has been pounded (I know it has been hunted by at least one other member of this forum). Six or seven inches down, and rang up high 80's on my F70.

In fact, 5 out of 6 of this season's LC's have come out of either modern parks or elementary schools. It pays to do your research. (Look at old aerial photos and maps, and focus on where there used to be farm fields and structures).

This isn't exactly an earth-shattering find, but old copper is old copper (and pulled another $4.75 in clad.).

I'll take it.

Thanks... I get a big kick out of the old coppers too. Even the slicks (which I tend to dig a fair amount of).

Tangent... Always wondered which engineering discipline you taught.

This is really my first season back in the hunt... I'm pretty excited about it.

For some reason I'm finding plenty of LC's but no IH's to speak of.

Weird.

Sweet congrats to you!

she's cute, should be worth a few THOUSAND CENTS:-)

I'm pretty happy with it. (particularly from a hunted out park).

I might actually try to clean this one up.

Nice save!

Thanks Gary.

This one came from dead across the street from the Oregon Grill. (withing 20ft of the road).

If I'm not mistaken, you pulled a Walker out of that field.

Yep, a walker, a few IHs, some rings, LCs, a Jew's harp, & even a couple very old buttons! LOL
And it's a nice clad factory to boot! :)

1856 is a better date... I dont know the numbers off the top of my head but i think i only have one in my collection... I recall is being tough to find one with a bold date, they were usually pretty faint:thumbsup:

WTG OWK. Gotta love the hightone and then digging out a LC. I had 2 high tones today that I thought were going to be an LC or silver half, bit alsa only relics.

This may sound strange but try hunting the same area one or two days after a heavy rain storm . ;)

Very nice. We do not see many LCs in NC. Very well done.

Excellent find, as someone else said, that date is one of the tougher ones!!! Pays to hit those school yards sometimes, never know what was there before they put a school in. HH!
