I just discovered this great site and hope someone here can help me. I am looking for info on the latest rules/policies on searching for nuggets on Forest Service lands with a detector . In reguards to their "reinterpretation" of 36 CFR Part 228, is a NOI or POO required for roaming our public lands and digging up targets? What is the latest news on this. I may have to resort to calling the district office here but want to be informed on the latest developments before I do. Any info will be appreciated. Also, what are the requirements for using a bucket, shovel, and pan or sluice when not on a registered claim?

Thanks for the reply Hoser John. I also found a posting in the Dredging/Panning/Sluicing forum that pretty much said the same thing. Now all I need to do is get out and start swinging the coil.

Thanks, RAD. 8) ::) :) :) :)
