NTR Bars & Goldmart.com

About to pull the trigger on some more 10 oz. bars. I found some NRT brand bars from www.gold mart.com for $.99 per oz. over spot which is the best I've ever seen. Has anyone purchased either NRT bars from anywhere or anything from Goldmart?

Looking for reviews on either.

Re: NRT Bars & Goldmart.com

Well here's a review don't buy through Goldmart. I placed an order on the 30th of September and it's still being processed also the eagles are still available. >:( I checked their site and they have me paying more than what I ordered. My total was $686.61 and they sent me a confirmation e-mail with that amount but they have a much different amount on their web site and they are asking me to re-order, yea right. I'll call them in the morning as see what 's going on. Stay Tuned.

Re: NRT Bars & Goldmart.com

Thanks for the reply, I look forward to the follow up.

I really like their prices, hopefully this works out for you. If not, back to APMEX I go. I like everything about them but their price. I liked the idea of bars with a $.99/oz premium.....

Looks like they will be shipping my items finally tomorrow at the price they quoted to me but I still have no confirmation on that yet.

I would never go to apmex...premiums are doube than gainsvillecoins.com They got ntr 10oz bars for like .79 over spot... I dont know how people put up with anything over $2 spot for generics.

Because in the grand scheme of things, a couple of percentage points doesn't really matter for those of us that are accumulating for the long term. Thirty years from now I'm not going to care whether I paid $32 or $33 when I'm selling a generic silver round for $60 each. Now don't get me wrong. We all like to get a good deal. But some of these companies offering really low prices are fly-by-night operations. It only takes getting ripped off once to completely negate any savings you may have gotten on your entire collection (especially when dealing with gold). So it is potentially a case of "bending over dollars to pick up pennies".

I'm not saying that gainsvillecoins isn't a good company. I've never dealt with them so they may indeed be the very best. But in general I'm not looking to subject myself to pain and suffering just so that I can find the very best price out there. For example, I don't waste my time buying off of eBay. Many people love eBay but for me it isn't worth the hassle and the possibility of being ripped off. It only takes getting one fake gold bar/coin to completely negate any savings you may have gotten over an entire lifetime.

So I'll stick with relatively big names and pay a slightly higher premium. But not too high. As usual, it isn't black and white.

First let me say I have never ordered PMs from any online company. But over the years since I became a gold/silver bug I have read various "reports" on various PM blogs about the many different online coin companies.

With respect to APMEX, I believe that in the past their premiums were not so high as they are now percentage wise. I saw over the years they developed a large following because it was said they had great customer service and fast delivery (apparently some other coin companies took 2 to 3 months to send out PMs after getting a customer's money).

Anyway, my guess is that over the past year or so APMEX has been able to increase their premiums and still sell lots of stuff because their diehard customers (like MTS) will keep going back because they like dealing with the company so much. I don't know for sure but that is just my opinion.

I can get better deals locally on generic silver than from any online company I have seen (gold/platinum is sometimes cheaper on Goldmart and Tulving). There may be others out there with better deals but I don't look at them. I only look at APMEX, Goldmart and Tulving to get a feel on where premiums are going relative to current demand, etc.

I wouldn't call myself a diehard fan. In fact, I recently created a post about alternatives due to the higher premiums as well as increased shipping costs. But I would still consider ordering certain items from them despite the slightly higher costs. They have a great selection and I trust them to give me my PM's in a timely manner. For the record, the majority of my silver purchases have been from private individuals and local coin dealers. I have only bought a relatively small amount from APMEX. But like you I look to them for general pricing guidelines.

Price is certainly important. But sometimes I think people literally "bend over dollars to pick up pennies" when it comes to online purchases. I was only trying to state that I still think it is reasonable to pay slightly more for PM's from a source that you trust and who will deliver in a timely manner.

Re: NRT Bars & Goldmart.com

Thanks for the replies!

I checked out Gainsville coins and the price is $.98 /oz for smaller orders. This is comparable to goldmarts $.99. However, Gainsville's shipping is a bit higher and they have a 15 day before shipping wait.

Still looking for reviews on the NRT Bars if anyone has bought them?

Re: NRT Bars & Goldmart.com

Also, I like NWT Mint however they have high minimums and long shipping times of 8-10 weeks.

Tulving: This must be the worst website I have ever seen. I really can't figure it out..

Re: NRT Bars & Goldmart.com

Well I finally recieved my 20 AE's from Goldmart today which I ordered on September 30th overall the price was great, shipping $30.00 which was included in my final price of $686.61 but the delivery was way way slow. They also don't except Paypal which I like to use as the monies comes straight from my bank account and I hate using a credit card.

Re: NRT Bars & Goldmart.com

Well, I decided to go ahead and place an order myself.

I will let you all know how it goes.

Re: NRT Bars & Goldmart.com

Actually, they are NTR bars, not NRT. It is a north Texas company. They are bought and sold quite a bit here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and are good quality bars. I have 15 physical 10oz bars myself, and would not hesitate to buying more. You can find out more about them if you go to www.ntrmetals.com. Hope this helps.

Wayne,

Thanks for the reply! I have since fixed the title of this thread.

Re: NTR Bars & Goldmart.com

I think .99 over spot is pretty common on 10 oz. bars. I'm fortunate I guess, I have a bullion exchange about 10 blocks from my house. Also a smelter that makes the bars right here in town, Johnson Matthey, a brand well known worldwide. Heck I've bought single silver rounds for .99 over spot and seen them advertised on Kitco, when their having specials. I just checked Kitco right now and the 10 oz. bars are around 13 more than the spot for 10 0z.. The Bullion exchange near my house is cool. You go in and it's just like going to the bank. Except you have to be buzzed in through two different doors then tellers stand in their bankers booths with displays of bars, rounds, bullion coins. A live feed tells you the price minute to minute on all the products. Just like bank tellers serving you, except these tellers are all wearing .40 glocks, and no money or gold is out front. They take your order, walk to the bullet proof window with your money, and the clerk hands your bullion out.......Pretty cool, when I want to sell I just sit home and watch the charts, when I think the price has peaked for the day, I drive down as fast as I can..............If you want the really good deals, sometimes you can go direct to the mines or smelters. Sunshine Mine in Idaho lets customers buy straight form them, which cuts out most of the premium. I haven't bought from them, but a friend of mine has numerous times. I heard in Asia (China) the guys who are buying really big orders (hundreds of thousands of Gold ounces) are bypassing the brokerage markets in Hong Kong and cutting a deal straight with the mine owners. This means those sales aren't reflected in the Market prices, and the brokers aren't getting those premiums either..

Wow! Interesting stuff. I wish I lived close to a bullion exchange. I might just have to find one to visit on vacation just for the experience.
