nozzle?? maybe?? but I am not sure and have not found a good answer yet

I found this last year and I still don't know what it is. I have shown it to a lot of people with no good answer yet. It is made of brass and looks like some sort of a nozzle but if it had threads inside so it could screw onto a hose then I would believe it is a nozzle but the other end is mystifying. how can this be attached to something? I found it in a farmers field where an old mill used to be. any ideas would be great. thanks.

Not sure its a nozzle, I don't see where how you could attach a hose or pipe
Looks more like a topper of some kind
Maybe for an incense burner - just a guess
any indication is was soldered on the large mouth end
Tea pot?

Now that I look at it, there is a decent width between the two bands that will allow for a strapping band to seal off a hose, but sure seems small.
How do I know, I've banded many commercial, municipal hoses over my lifetime
BUT - Its just to small to warrant the thought its a spray nozzle unless maybe its far a fountain, that would be my best guess

Hardee built a farm sprayer with nozzles on a wide bar to spray crops. Early to mid 1900's.

I don't think so. Ive got about a dozen of these and have sorted through hundred and have never seen a nozzle like that

I couldn't fine my idea, ... it sort of makes sense ... but

eyepiece or lens piece

The knurling makes sense for rotation.
Rubber or plastic could "snap on" the ends.

Microscopes, binoculars, opera glasses, gun sights, telescopes ...
Maybe a path to consider ? IDK
