Now you see it @@ Now you don't

First off, if you haven't seen my good ol' hunting partner Ridley's latest find, please take a l@@k:
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,107695.0.html

I thought I skunked him last night, but he pulled a rabbit (or seal) out of the hat after I went home. Dirty dog!

Some of you may remember the old 100 year old house Ridley and I hunted a few weeks back (pictured). The spot had turned up numerous finds for us: silver coins, Order Of Owls 1907 pendant, WW1 collar disc, etc.
Well guess what? The old house has vanished into thin air. All that is left now is a nice flat detectable lot (see picture).
We hit it last night after the work crew had left for the day. I think they have their equipment parked on our cache? ;D
I got there ahead of Ridley, and had a few good finds by the time he showed up. After that, he was like Speedy Gonzales trying to find some silver coins before me. ;D
I tried to show him my finds, but I got a "we'll look at those later. Now let's hunt" reply. I was both crushed and laughing at the same time. :'( ;D I think he was feeling the heat of the Mighty Tesoro?

My Mighty Tesoro finds were:
*1942 Silver quarter.

*CW 3-ringer bullet (in downtown!)

*A old buckle that I think may be from the late 1800's. It is stamped "Russell Mfg. Co. - Middletown, Conn ". I googled that company name, and they produced suspenders & buckles in the late 1800's.

*A small golden SOUSA JR. HIGH pin. It has "Metal Art Co. - Roch. NY" on the back.
More writing on the front too.
Any idea on this one?

*1953D & 1951 wheats.

*Relics: Keys, old spoon, toy metal wheel, candle holder, Grimland play coin.

Thanks for looking. I got to get back over there before Ridley finds it all. ;D

Re: Now you see it @@ Now you don't

Nice finds and post MM! HH, Mike

Re: Now you see it @@ Now you don't

That bullet was a real surprise! Nice photos.

Hey. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings by not analyzing the button at the location, but it was getting dark! :D

It seems to skip being dusk this time of year. It goes from day to night at the snap of your fingers! Anyway...

Congratulations on the wilver quarter, the bullet, the relics and yes... the button/pin!

Cheers!

Sweet stuff. I think you did put a little skunking on that dirty dog. ;) ;D I think you can downplay that stamp thingy. heck, it's not even silver :D

Good thing you got there early. ;D

Nice variety of stuff. 3 ringer is cool as is the buckle. And anytime you get a silver Quarter is a good hunt.

You digging anything deep?

Bob

Re: Now you see it @@ Now you don't

Have you been using that Silver uMax again?

It sure enough looks like it!

Hey, tell them it was a Minelab Ex or something ;D

Great treasures.

Thanks Bob. You're right, that stamp thingy Ridley found isn't even silver. I thought I'd make him feel good about that find though. I actually chucked it into the weeds before he got there. Heck if I wanted stamps, I'd just go to the post office. ;D
As far as digging deep, this coil has really been helping a lot. Not only is it picking up deeper finds than the stock coil, it picks up even TINY signals deep too. The buckle I found was about 8", but the bullet was only about 2" deep. The silver was actually just laying below the dusty soil left by the equipment in the picture.

Ridley and I have been fortunate enough to be scoring permission on some old places lately. It must be the charm? ;D
Have a great week, and again, congrats to you and Dan on your great finds.

Badger,
You bet your bippy I've been using the Mighty Tesoro. Not only by choice, but it's also the only machine I own right now. :o ;D Tesoro makes a great machine. If this $200 Silver Umax does this well, I can hardly wait to see what one of their more costly models will do. ;D
Thanks,
MM

It's too bad they had to tear down that beautiful old house, but I know it makes your hunting easier. Nice finds!

Vicki,
When I first went to this house I saw the new boards on the front (see picture), and thought they were going to restore it. Unfortunately, our town has grown by leaps and bounds, and this spot is prime real estate now. Sad, but true. Had I known they were going to do this, I would of tried to get permission to tear out some boards on the inside walls to look for hidden items. Darn it! :-\

Re: Now you see it @@ Now you don't

Some more material for you
John Philip Sousa, Bandleader / Composer

Born: 6 November 1854
Birthplace: Washington, D.C.
Died: 6 March 1932
Best Known As: The guy who wrote "Stars and Stripes Forever"
"March King" John Philip Sousa was the most famous band leader in the United States during his lifetime, a former U.S. Marine Band leader who composed and conducted some of the most well-known marches in the world. His professional career began as a violinist in travelling orchestras, but his first fame came as the leader of the U.S. Marine Band from 1880 until 1892. Sousa composed the official song of the Marine Corps, "Semper Fidelis" at the request of President Chester A. Arthur (who was looking for a song to replace "Hail to the Chief," or so the story goes). In 1892 he started a civilian band that became internationally famous and hugely popular (in 1910 they toured the world). The band was known especially for marches that Sousa composed, notably "Stars and Stripes Forever," designated in 1987 as the National March of the United States.

Sousa also wrote operas and other pieces of music, as well as novels and poetry... In 1917 he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve (at the age of 62) because of World War I.
