Hi All,

Went for a hike up East Fork with my son today, went 2 miles or so before it started to rain
turned around started back, did a few test pans nothing, have not been up there in 3 yrs. an
man has it changed, I think every big rock has been dug I mean it looks like this place has been
gone through with a fine tooth comb. I am still so new to looking for were the gold is that I'm
not sure were to look any more after seeing what it looks like up there, all the usual spots are
dug what do I look for now? :icon_scratch:

When you are prospecting in a area hit hard, you have to think outside the box abit. Skip those obvious areas and start looking for non traditional areas, high benches, follow dug out bedrock into the waterline ect.... Good health and good hunting...

I found a klinker at the bend at Heaton Flats yesterday, Friday.
I haven't done the cons yet, more to come.

chenty - Yeah, we're in that same boat. We've spent a bunch of time down at Cattle Canyon Bridge, and there it was pretty easy to find a few tiny flakes with no problem. But not much else, though. So we've ventured up to Heaton and beyond now. We went up about a mile past Heaton, sampling lots of places, opening up existing holes, digging behind big rocks ...etc and found NOTHING, I mean zilch. It's been worked hard up there, no question. We're gonna take another hike up there soon and we're just going to ramp up our sampling game and dig in logical places AND illogical places. We've certainly tallied up a long list of where the gold ISN'T up there. Persistence and moving massive amounts of dirt are certainly also key. Good luck!

Maybe try some underwater sniping. :)
Grab a drysuit and a hookah and give it a try.

Thanks to all,

work..work..work..dig..dig..dig......I know nothing comes easy.

I know there is still some GOOD gold there...all the easy pick'ens are gone
an now it's time to play hide an seek in the creek:goldpan:
