Went up the creek this time out and looked for a couple hours it was hot and I was soaked and I was just about ready to throw in the towel when i thought I would go back down stream past my truck and check on how busy that beaver has been the last two days. He has been busy, so anyway the second picture shows the creek right down from the beaver dam and is where I found the blade cores last time out but right in the middle of the pic is where I found this beauty it was across the creek from where i found that real pretty blade core that I wish someone could tell me what the material is. It was just laying flat out, and to think I was going to give up for the day, what a trip. thanks for looking and putting up with my rambling. Anybody know what this is and what its made out of please chime in. JYD...

Sweet piece JYD, real nice material. You must live outside of the Burlington chert zone. I didnt know Mo. had such a variety of lithics until I saw many of your posts. Those creek pics make me want to put on the waders and head upstream.

Man that is a great material!!!! Sure looks like a knife to me. Great job.

nice little archaic knife.

I agree with SoIll, it looks like an archaic knife, with some really nice color.

I use to walk the creeks and streams north of you in the Columbia area. Basically anything with in a 40 mile radius of Columbia. Lot on nice stone bottom creeks there to walk, I found some really nice producing areas.

Beautiful find right at the last moment. That creek is beautiful and that beaver needs to be trapped when he gets his winter coat on. Great pictures and find JYD. Congratulations. Hopefully I will be able to get in a hunt tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing

Great colors, nice lithics. If I found this artifact, I would be thinking that it is a pre-form.

Forgot to give my opinion on what I think this piece is. I'd say it's a preform too, looks like they even began to notch it on one side.

Beautiful find, JYD! I always love your posts because they look like home to me. But I have to admit that I haven't found anything nearly as pretty as your find here in my neck of MO ... yet. WTG! :)

Pretty much a flake core, I think, JD. The edges of stuff like that did get used, of course, so several functions would have (probably) been involved.

In your picture 017 I can see the butt end (striking platform) of a piece that looks interesting to me (if to nobody else). A look at that one, and the one next to it would be welcome !

Nice find my friend, it seems you are on the right track. That scraper has some beautiful color to it. It is one sweet find, good luck on your next hunt. Oh, and that creek looks like it will produce some good finds...
