1) the price of copper in general if enough coinage is introduced into the smelting business?

2) the availability of US copper Lincolns, since Canadians could in theory melt all of our copper Lincolns (regards of the legality of how much you can "import" into the country from the US)?

Copper value will obviously drop due to increased supply, but will also increase in value much beyond what it is now to stim-u-late, the US to take the same action as Canada.

1) Coinage is such a tiny part of of overall copper usage. Think about how much copper is in an average building in pipes, wiring, etc. when compared to how much is in copper pennies. While it will reduce the copper price (since its an increase in supply), I don't imagine that it will have much impact.

2) I can't imagine it will affect the availability of copper US cents. After all, has US demand to melt Canadian cents decreased the supply of Canadian copper?
