Now mapping all gold mines by county for Colorado

If you have any suggestions I would like to hear them. As a beginner I want to know where exactly do I go to look for the gold. I hope to organize this site to give any beginner a very good lesson in where to look complete with maps of mines and geology pertaining to gold deposits.

Just use mindat.org it shows most of the locality's listed in USGS data anyway.

Here I did it for you, 39 pages of gold mines listed for Colorado.

Note that not everything named Colorado is actually in Colorado, but that's one of the quirks of the mindat search. If you ask around there, I am sure someone can tell you how to filter that better.

Really like the search for mineral site. I found that is is more productive if you use gold instead of AU. AU also brings up Australia. Too many hits there!

You can enter any state or other common area of a state but you cannot enter multiple minerals. For instance, I could not enter gold and silver.

Many states come up with many pages of hits. Most of the hits I got were commercial mines. I don't know if they are currently in production or not. Locating each one on a map would be very informative. Verifying and qualifying each (mine) site could be a project in itself.
