Hello folks!

I have been welcomed into this hobby way better than i expected i would. On my first "dedicated" hunt i found a single reichspfennig from 1940, which made got me really intrigued and eagered to search for more coins and relics. Even though 99% of what i dug up was "trash". Well, today i revisited the same site and what i found went way above my expectations!

The second dig of the day turned out to be a 1939 Deutches Reich silver coin! Heavily damaged (thought it was a bottle cap at first), but i dont care! :hello2:

I know there has been detectorists (is it a word?) in the area before, and i found a few poorly dug holes about 50 meters from where i found my coin. However it seems they have all skipped the area that i searched due to it beeing really uneven and filled with rocks, which makes it hard to dig. Lazy asses! If they had paid any attention to the surroundings they would have seen that the rocky section used to be a road that the germans used, as you can see here.

Ofcourse i found the coin right in the middle of the road, and i found a norwegian 1 Krone from 1975 and a 50 øre from 1968 right next to it. Finding those 3 there made me sure there was more to find so i continued up the road. After those 3 coins i only found trash that gave really good signals, but i had hope i would find something good sooner or later, even if it was hard work digging there.
Sure enough, a little further up the road i dug up my first ring! :occasion18: Check it out

Now, i dont know what metal the ring is made of, so if anyone has any pointers i would appreciate it! I has "Norge" written on the front which is "Norway" in norwegian, heh. Above it is a viking ship and there's some traditional norse engravings on the sides. I don't think it's any older than the road itself, which was most likely built by the germans.

Also found a plate close to the ring which is most likely made of brass. It has the engraving "Minnehallen", which is directly translated into "hall of rememberance". It's a monument that was built in 1926 to remember fallen norwegian sailors of ww1. What that plate was doing there is beyond me, but i found it so i'm happy.
Here's a picture of all the finds for those who are intrested:

Will have to go over that spot more in the future, but tomorrow it's off to another location that i have high hopes for.
If i find anything good you'll know!

Happy hunting everyone!

Can't help on the ring ID but some nice finds. Congrats.

Yeah, hope to find out more about the ring!

Thanks guys! Gotta say, finding them felt like hitting the jackpot.

A little Aluminum Jelly will clean that ring up. Doesn't look like it's made of a precious metal, but a nice find. When did they stop using Noreg (I know that there's a push for nye Norsk :laughing7: -- have seen Noreg on stamps)? The ring is probably from the 1940s-1950s or so I'm guessing. Great set of finds. What part of Norway are you in?

No, it doesn't look like it, but looks like it might have been silver coated, but i haven't really checked.
Noreg is from the nynorsk dialect and Norge is from the bokmål dialect. I belive bokmål was first introduced arround the 1930's. Nynorsk is still in use today , but it's in minority.

I have googled arround a bit, and i belive the ring was most likely worn by a german soldier. Maybe some sort of souvenir. However, IF i'm lucky, it could be a 5th SS Panzer division Wiking ring! Would be awesome if it is, but i will have to do some more research.
Have to clean it up a bit more to see if there are any more markings on it, but it feels fragile, so i have been cautious with how i go about doing it.
I'm on the west coast! In the area around Bergen.

Lookin good, great finds!
