A lot of rocks will be common to an area depending on the geology. Your new to rockhounding that's great! If you have not pick up some books on mineral identification, the Audubon society has a real good one that's worth the price, and maybe look into a local club.
As to what you have there they appear to be quartz primarily. The piece with the crystalline cavity, called a vug, is fine quartz crystals and a nice find. The other pieces are massive quartz laced thru the host rock. A fairly common stone in most areas. If your finding pieces with crystals keep an eye out for lose crystals or other vuggy material.
You do need some books for reference. & it's a good way to get your son to do some research too. WA. has some wonderful gemstones & rock specimens, bot W & E. I have found nice rocks in the Chehalis area, & WA jade on the Olympic Pen. As well as lots of fossils. Good luck with your hunting, & I'm glad you are sharing it with your son.
Hi and welcome to Tnet....so nice that you & your son are doing this together! Sorry, can't tell what the rocks are but keep looking, it's fun and you never know what treasures you may come upon.
