I went to the Phoenix lot this past Monday that on Saturday had given up a few wheat pennies and and Indian head penny to my buddy.
Found 2 more wheat pennies...1944 S and 1949 S
Also found this long shell casing. I have posted a picture of the headstamp on it in hopes someone can help ID it and date it.
Also found a US Cartridge company shotgun shell headstamp. Dated 4-10-12. US Climax 12m/m. They were in business from 1838 to 1924 I believe.
Also found this rivet that has RAU KLIKIT stamped in it. Don't know what that is.
..and of course the usual clad junk...

Your long casing was made in the Lake City Ammunition Plant, Lake City MO.
I think in March of 1940.

the long one looks like a 30-30 round.
thought it might be 223 but the neck is to big.
