MineLab E-Trac and White's Classic 4
Took a half hour and detected an area close to home a few days ago. Got a 1965 quarter, a few new coins and then I found a buried jar, lid up and sealed. Dug it out all excited, empty. Moved to the next tree, same find, empty. This happened four times. All were buried upright about 4 inches deep, sealed and intact, but all empty, what a bummer :(

Also a label from a reel of mining cable

Sounds like my last hunt. Jar lids from a early 1800's site? :icon_scratch:

I think we missed the site by a few yards. :D

Good you got out. :icon_thumright:

It's all part of the hobby.

Bummer on those Lids :D
I Keep Hoping the next one
will be a full Jar Too ;D

On the Mining cable Just a Guess.

Dad (Your Pap) Used to get these reels
at the Mine, & Use them for outside tables.

It is possible they had one or more there
in the picnic area
for that purpose

Maybe they were 'moonshine' jars, and the contents evaporated..??

Skelly, that is EXACTLY what I am thinking. There have to be more of them and hopefully one will be full!

considering the location 'moonshine'
during Prohabition Can not be completly
Ruled out.

considering some of my neighbors, I can believe the moonshine theory :laughing7:

lol

also got this about the Town
but no dates Or exact location

Those lids sure do sound sweet though. I don't know which bums me out more a 65 coin or the lid. So close to silver almost a slap in the face.. At least you got out. Nice job Tex

Bet those lids did get ya excited.....I have hunted the area around my parents house and remembered a place in the woods that had about a 3-4 foot round "sunken" area. Thought maybe something was buried there and it collapsed or something so I swung my detector over it and hit a SOLID signal. Got all excited and started digging around and only found pieces of what looked like tin roof in the hole. I thought for sure I had found something awesome.....then reality set in. I like not having any idea what you dig until its outta the ground. Exciting stuff.
