I'm guessing post WW1 Germany when inflation went crazy. That 1m Mark note might get you a loaf of bread. gary

No, it's no money, it's so called 'Propagandaschein' (propaganda bill) against french and belgian occupation of the Ruhr region in 1923.

The text says:
10 million 'Ruhrdollars' the French and Belgians payed gladly every german, who would bring them coals, so they do not disgrace themselves to the world for their nasty Ruhr region invasion.

The heros of the Grande Nation confiscate reparation coals.

yep HyperInflation note,
1923 Germany 10000000 [ 10 Million ] Ruhrtaler

Using banknotes as wallpaper during German hyperinflation, 1923
In 1923, at the most fevered moment of the German hyperinflation, the exchange rate between the dollar and the Mark was one trillion Marks to one dollar, and a wheelbarrow full of money would not even buy a newspaper. Most Germans were taken by surprise by the financial tornado. The currency had lost meaning

not sure but I believe 1 Ruhrtaler = 1.1 pound

going by this:

I also Found this, Though I think it is Outrageously Overpriced.
In the late 60's, I could Buy a Pound of these Notes from
an add in Coinworld Magazine, For something like $5.00
there were tons of different designs and amounts.

The picture on the front makes it look more like a marriage note, it's a pretty accurate representation! The woman pins the man down by the neck, whips him and takes all his money? Marriage at it's finest!

Thanks all, what a great batch of information in less than 5 hours of posting, TN members are fantastic. Its listed on ebay & hopefully will get some good results. Over the Hill Bill in Spokane
