Went out to Pearl, Idaho with Gabbit last weekend. Pearl is what is left of a gold mining ghost town. The buildings have been demolished and all that remains are some footings of the old school house, A well about 25 feet deep (Gabbit scaled the rock walls and found a cache)

Gabbit and I will be going there again when he returns from Ireland and we will take some pics.

I found the following item ESTABLISHED 1883 which is the first thing I've found that is older than me. We believe that it is part of a wood burning stove. The manufacturer now makes gears and some fireplace accessories. I will be sending them a pic to get some info. In the mean time? What is it?

Its the damper from inside the chimney pipe....should have a handle that goes with it You turn the handle to create draft....

Since I have heated with wood most of my life, I was pretty sure I had it!!

I read..... Alot..... And have lived..... A whole lot.... Hahahah
Plus , my head is now full of useless information and trivia that brings me no monetary gain,unfortunately. Of course if you ask me what the date is...I wouldn't have a clue...and sometimes I even get the month wrong!
