1700'S farm. First one these type. 2-7/8" diameter. Havent found a makers mark on it so I don't know how old or what it was used for. I am assuming an early cow or horse bell?
It's hard to get a bell like your's out intact it seems and have only managed one and it has a fracture crack, the ploughs really breaks them up, where the crotel bells seem to have a better survival rate.
Did they use heavier brass bells on cows and horses? Seems a little expensive for animal use, I am thinking home, boat, school, or church origin. Very COOL find, congratulations! Sub
