Hi folks...
Hoping someone can help me identify this.

My wife found this last night with my equinox at an old home site we have been hunting. Rang up a 20 on VDI at about 7 inches.
Any ideas?

I was thinking something similar because of the rounded part but I was thinking more along the lines of a handgun and it wasn't making sense to me that a handgun would have that much angle where it rounds off. However, I was not even thinking about an old rifle!! This makes more sense...

That would be awesome if someone could identify and date it.
I did some more looking and that is definitely what it is (off a rifle or shotgun). Wife is pretty stoked now that we know what it is...

Have not looked that close yet but I have a marker in the field on where we found it. Most of the large signals we end pulling heavy iron scrap so I am a little pessimistic.

This is definitely right time period for some of the other artifacts we have found in this location.

a couple of flat buttons
