There are Remnants of wood inside this object and a rusty nail that was used to attach it. Have no idea what this was used for.
Any help/Ideas would be awesome! Thanks in advance. :icon_thumleft:

Could it be a flagpole topper? With a place to secure a flag or pendant?

It is either a whippletree tip or a buggy shaft / pole tip. I can't remember at the moment.

I like MudHut's ideas especially the buggy pole tip idea...

Thanks everyone for the input. I think it might be a belt mounted flag carrier.

I found this image on the internet that said "CIVIL-WAR-ARTIFACT-BRASS-FLAG-COLOR-BEARER-BELT" Looks exactly like the one I found.
Unfortunatly the image was to a ebay link that is no longer avaialable, so I could not find anymore info. And this looks like the only image I can find on web so far. $(KGrHqZ,!qwFGTuj0gMjBRs1cgGCSw~~60_35.webp

Unfortunately, you can't rely on Ebay with any degree of accuracy when it comes to ID'ing things. I think you will find that this item is in fact part of a wagon/buggy/carriage set up. I can tell you that much with certainty, but as I mentioned earlier, I can't remember which tip it is. There must be somebody else here on this forum that is knowledgable about such things.

I appreciate the info. I can't find much on the web of wagon/buggy images.
Wheter it's a belt mount or a wagon/buggy part, I'm cool with it being not complete trash. It's part of the fun researching it and hearing what everyone thinks. I think I'll leave the thread open for awhile and see if anyone else chimes in.
