After a tip about a park from a friend 40 miles south of me I decided to give it a try before cold weather set in here in northern Ohio. Found loads of clad, and a few pieces of silver coinage. This one has me baffled , so that's why I come here to the experts on the forum.

Top coin reminds me of a British coin from the reign of Charles I, 1625-1648.

Spot on Don...it's a Charles1st 2 pence, or half groat...great find

The reverse legend should read: IV (v for u)stitia thronum firmat (Justice strengthens the throne).

Yes I agree and if it's real, which I think it may well be, it would be one of the earliest posted on here, I know there has been a Edward1st posted, but can't remember seeing any Stuart coinage.

I doubt very much that this will make Banner as it was posted in Today's finds, were there was some doubt wether or not it is real or a copy...certainly looks real, but some questions have not been answered ...shame really because a early 1600s coin should make it
