I found this in an area that I have dug up a few ox shoes, and countless square nails. First glance I thought it was a handle of some sort, but it's seems too heavy. It's broken off on one end. Small piece of something larger? Farming equipment? Something that could be attached to an Ox? I am just grasping at straws... what do you think? 20160417_140244.webp20160417_140255.webp

Size? Type of metal?

Looks like a handle from an iron cookpot

It's likely Iron, 7.5" x 1.5", and it weighs a little over a pound. Feels heavy in your hand though.

Sorry about that

I would think it's from some had tool or, as Bruce suggested, a piece of cast cookware.

Honestly, there's no way to identify this one, IMHO.

Ladle or spoon handle?

If iron, it does not appear to have been in the ground for any length of time...

Could it be the handle used to remove the "eyes" of an old wood burning cook stove? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1461020991.408685.webp

I have one exactly like that. Was told by an old timer(and I'm pushin 70) that it was to melt lead for bullets and then pour them in a mold. Never saw another one, until now...
