Got out today for an hour and forty five minutes, was pretty hot.

Went to where I got half a military plate last year in hopes of maybe getting the tounge part. No luck with that but did get;
pewter rosette
blank copper
indian head cent 18xx quite toast
old key from Brooklyn NY, above that is W. Bohannan, other side " IV A R R"

Pretty cool, just found out Wilson Bohannan got a patend, and started making padlocks in 1860. Apparently supplying padlocks to the rail road, which may have something to do with the RR on the other side ?

Good luck out there.

Nice finds. That railroad lock key is great.

Nice Rick. Sometimes just getting out is good but bringing something home makes it that much better. Too bad all I got today was clad!

Glad to see you get out after what's obviously been a very tough week for you. It's best to get out and stay active. Sitting at home dwelling on these things can really weigh you down and take it's toll. Hope your able to get out a lot this fall when it's cool and not so thick. I know I'm looking forward to it

@ evolution, THANKS

@ Greylock, your right is really is mostly about getting out doors, because I assure you, that when we are unable to get out, the best of our "trinkets" won't mean very much to us.

@ Ahab8, had to get going, my year so far has been slow, and I want to make up for it, no excusses now. It was strange not to have someone hanging on my leg as I got the detector off the wall though.

S is for switch key

Thanks etex, for the info, I guess that confirms it for sure. Now I need an old lock.

Yeah those are the little things that you will come to really miss my friend. I really encourage you to wait a bit but when you're ready go save some poor lil guy who needs one person on this earth to love him/her. There is nothing more unselfish in my opinion that a person can do. Can you imagine how it must feel to be given a great life and happiness forever because one human being is decent enough to take in a lil pup that just needs a 2nd chance....like most of us have needed in our lives

Awesome finds! Congrats!

very nice key and what it represents

Not sure how I missed this one, sorry Rick
I love the old railroad related stuff, the switch keys especially, thumbs up on that one Rick!

Nice finds Rick, blank copper , what might that be ?

My condolences, Rick.

Keep those great finds coming, man. That key is very cool.

I found that same key ! here in New Jersey ! wish I had a camera. I guess back then if you had one key you could open all the locks on the railroad ! Mine is only marked on the Makers side it doesn't have any railroad mark on it. otherwise it's exactly the same.

You found a pretty valuable railroad key. (your key says W&A, and not IV and A)

The Western & Atlantic Railroad was founded in 1836. It was a short line running from Atlanta to Chattanooga. A small southern road and the relative rarity of artifacts from such a road, would make it prized by collectors.
