My second Half Cent!

Took a ride to Rhode Island yesterday to an old stomping ground and didn't find much. Good signals were few are far between, but I managed to pop this one out- really bad shape. Gave it the peroxide bath and had to use some Deller's Darkner on it just to bring out enough detail to photo. I think you can make out the bust in the pic. Date seems to be 1807- not 100% sure. Also found this small button, with ornate silver around the edge.

HH all!

Nice! You did a good job bringing out enough detail to photo! Nice button!
Wonder if that would work on my LC can't read the date.

Was the ground frozen down there?

Hi my friend- thanks for the comments! Ground was perfectly thawed, even too wet & mushy in some spots. Giant old place- finds are sparse but usually good ones. Both my half cents came form here. Lots of coppers & large cents too.

I lightened your photo up a bit and it looks like I see a 2 on the date? 1852 maybe?

Hi Coily... I can see what you're saying- just so hard to tell, wet, dry, 5x, 10x or more, different angles- just not clear. I'm happy with it regardless!

Hopefully the ground stays thawed for a while. I have to hunt in better places, I would like to find another LC. You wonder who held it last before it was lost, I never think that with clad! Lol!

I really love the LC's, I'll be so happy when I find one that is in nice enough shape to read the date right out of the dirt. It's probably the mystery I'm in love with.

Great find for you, now you know to go back and hit it hard. Good work!

A 1/2 cent, that's awesome! Still a good day of detecting in my book! The buttons are cool too. HH.
