Found this in farm field that has been in use since mid 1700s.

I usually brush pieces / parts off my interest list, but this one got me.

Three wires looped out to form six legs/tenacles. each in identicle 'decorative" loops at the ends.

The go through a double piece of metal. The wires are rough, having a "braided" fee, but are solid.
Each leg is about 4" long.
No markings.
It was pretty balled up when found, so not sure what it would be layed out like when in use.

Any thoughts?

Here is a guess. Maybe part of a wire spool like this one used for barbed wire

Is that rope or wood remnants in the open end of the center piece in picture 4? If it's wood I will guess it's a old home made / repurposed rug whip.

No wood. Dirts and roots. I guess I should have cleaned it a bit.

LAMP SHADE HARP

I was going to say it looks like it was made to hang a plate on the wall. Curved ends snap over rim and are decorative when hung. What is a lamp shade harp? Anyone have a pic of it installed? inquiring minds want to know!
