Headed back to the horse farm field this morning for a 2.5hr hunt. Would've stayed longer, but the wind whipped up and it started to snow! I've been detecting the fields surrounding this farm for the past year. This field sits about 50 yards east of an 1860 farmhouse, todate I've only found one other silver coin here. Well today my luck was about to change! I started by digging the usual square nails, farm trash and even the occasional button, but then a clear 91 - 92 rang up and out popped a 1902 Canadian Silver Quarter! :hello2:

Even with the snow ending my hunt early, it was nice to find silver again!

Thanks for looking,
Dave

That looks like a great place and not being overgrown is certainly a plus. Nice find on the silver. Thanks for the pics.

Thanks very much for your post OD! :occasion14:
It's a shame to think this field will have new homes covering it in the next 2 years. But at least I saved a bit of the local history!

Best of luck to you my friend,
Dave

Outstanding hunt ! I dream of finding century old Canadian silver coins .

Thanks for your post Argentium!
Let me know if you ever get into Toronto and we'll hit a couple of 'Victorian Period' city parks.

Dave

Awesome! Nothing like the glint of silver!

Nice going on the Eddy it makes the day worthwhile. Not many days left out there now and one will have to grab what good ones are left.

That would make my day that's for sure, Congrats.

I hear you in regard to the weather J, this week looks to be our last gasp at temps above the freezing mark. :icon_scratch: As far as the 'Eddy' goes, I'd prefer to have found his mother! :laughing7:

Dave , Thank You ! Your offer to go hunt some Victorian period city parks is a generous offer indeed ! I'm currently way down I-19
South of Tucson , AZ. So a long way from fair Canada , but who knows what life has in store for any of us , and If and when I get
up Toronto way , I'll certainly PM you . Happy Hunting !

Very Nice Antiquarian! Those Edward quarters are scarce, well worth a blustery day of digging..

Nice job on the old silver. :occasion14: It has to be freezing up your way.
Congrats,
MM

You're always welcome to come to Canada and detect, as we don't have any laws made by misinformed politicians to prevent detecting in city parks . . . yet! :tongue3: In fact, I was detecting an c1860 park in Eastern Ontario this past summer and met a couple of guys from Vancouver. They'd flown from Vancouver to Toronto, rented a car and were driving from Toronto to Montreal detecting all the old parks along the way. They were doing this for a week and were then going to fly back to Vancouver from Montreal.

Now that sounds like a cool holiday . . . but I don't think I'd be 'allowed' to do that! :laughing7:

Best of luck to you as well Argentium,
Dave

If you've looked at the 14 day extended forecast lately, you'll notice after this week that temps will be in the -minus! :p

Thanks for your post Doug, great to hear from you again buddy!
It certainly is getting cold up hear. Yesterday I was digging through semi-frozen ground and light snow!

Take care,
Dave

Yes, it is here too, I think. I went out for a bit yesterday morning and this is what I saw. Temps were hovering around freezing, but it made for good digging in the cornfields. Keep "plugging" away at your site!

Thanks for the pic OD, some beautiful scenery in NE PA!
All we can do is keep plugging away, I see you have snow on the ground already too!
Here's a pic from the field I was hunting late yesterday.

Best of luck,
Dave
