Yesterday I hunted with flyinryan2 and DeepSecrets and had a good time doing so, even if the finds were skimpy for me! Check out flyinryan2's finds here: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/todays-finds/295423-whitetails-honeybees-king-george-ii.html I mainly wanted to try and hunt the uncharted territory for the day. Places that could have been not so overgrown at the time. So I spent most of my day bending and dodging low limbs and not actually digging much! That's the way of the hunt sometimes! I did end up with a couple horseshoes and an old hammer head( the tool, not the shark ). My neatest find was this decorative piece(which I thought was a coin spill on first dig! lol ) I showed DeepSecrets and he said it looks arabic and coulda came off an old horse saddle or something. If anybody actually knows for sure what it is or even says(if anything) that would be grand! 'Til next time and happy hunting!

Matt - I'm still thinking this is from an Arabian Show halter/tack or saddle - seeing how those riding trails on the property are so overgrown, possible it was torn off during a ride there? Maybe you can ask the owners of the farm if anyone rode Arabians?

That's a head scratcher Matt. You never know what you will find. If someone new to detecting thinks you can go out and dig CW relics every hunt, they need to lower their expectations to avoid disappointment. HH, Quindy.

We may have to ask them about the piece's he may know more about it. How deep were they?

Not very deep. It was up around the red barn by the house. There were several nails in the hole..prob. about 3 inches down.

I agree, Quindy. I honestly think some people buy a metal detector(sometimes really expensive ones) and come out disappointed because they think they will dig only the "treasures" and no trash or nothing at all! I've been doing it less than a year and I learned very quick to never be disappointed. I think the most fun is just getting out, exploring and if you come across that good find(s) it's an added bonus! HH!

You may be right! I haven't the slightest. I will have to ask the owners and see if they have a clue.
