Detector(s) used
Presently mental, not metal
For Mother's Day hub surprised me with a Lone Star Bounty Hunter. . he is soooo crazy!!! ::)
We travel to Virginia about twice a month & Mother's Day happen to fall on one of those trips ;D !!! So we stopped at my favorite place to "mental detect" . . . http://www.ce.jhu.edu/mdcive/nice.htm . . . which has a Welcome Center ( where I inquired sometime back about metal detecting the beach area, they said it was okay ) as well as a small little beachy area . . at this place in the past I have eye-balled a Pepsi bottle from the mid 1960's, a rather large interesting tooth & some cute little pieces of sea glass . . well, seeing it is Potomac River I reckon it is not sea glass but instead river glass eh :D . . anyhoot I have always loved stopping by this small place with our girls, but now that the weather is warming up so do other people . . we got there early & already it had a slew of people picnicking & fishing . . so we went off to small little areas to try out the Lone Star seeing it was our first time . . the beach was a bit more of a challenge . . there is a lot of metal . . a lot!!! I believe most of it has come off the bridge itself . . but we found some what I consider cool little pieces :D . . one showed up as silver on the meter & I know the picture does not do it justice but it has little ridges inside, like a screw top thing . . hub did find 5 pennies up on a trail where several benches are ;D . . the oldest, cleanest was a 1973, the others are hard to read thou we can barely make out 1989 & 2000. . .

Anyhoot not much to show but we had a nice family time playing with our new Lone Star, learning it a bit . . . & to me that was a treasure in itself ;D

Bogart :D

So glad you had a great day! Looks like you had fun and I enjoyed the story!

Welcome to a new addiction (or a modification of your other :)). Congrats on the finds and the new detector. The silver colored blob looks like some melted aluminum to me. Any fires allowed on the beach in the past? Or maybe washed down from further up river.

I haven't had luck in getting my wife interested in MDing yet. What is your husband's secret? :D

HH.

lol I was interested before David was.....maybe after she sees a ring or two she will be interested? I am not sure, I can't imagine NOT being interested! :D Good luck though!

Nah, unfortunately not. I've brought home a gold id bracelet, a silver one, and a small silver ring. We go out together so she "can walk around", and I always wind up packing up 30 minutes after I start. :-[ I've got my first detector (old Whites) being shipped out from my parents house, but she doesn't seem interested in digging. Otherwise, she loves sports, so this one is a mystery. :)

hmmm seems strange to me. I am not sure what it would take...perhaps this will be one of the few things you two do not enjoy doing together.....sad. :(
