Not Exactly "Finds"...
It's been like monsoon season here for the last two days - crazy rain! Stopped for a while today so I figured I head out to a different park. Only had about an hour to hunt but I heard that it's great to go after the rains. I dug a bottle cap with a silhouette of Richard Petty on it (Pepsi?), ONE Lincoln Memorial and a HUGE piece of metal (a bit rusted to identify but I'm going with old traffic sign). That darn "whatever" was only about two inches under the grass but when I tried to pull an edge up, I pulled up a slab of grass approximately 16"x20"!!
I replaced the grass and all the soil I could scrape and bang off the "sign" and hid the metal at the treeline. I'll head back tomorrow to take some pics and try to clean it up (maybe make an I.D.). Ended hunting after that because every target showing was at six inches plus. Just didn't have enough time to get into it today.
Anyway, while I did not bother with pics from today's hunt, I will post the pics of my "coin shop finds" from last week. Y'all know what happened and why I didn't post them then. While they may not be high-dollar coins they're fine examples for my daughter's collection. Both are Proof coins and just cool as anything to look at. The Sacagawea is special to her because it's her birth year and she's quarter Native American. The Jefferson nickel error (clipped planchet) I got back as change some time ago but just recently had it confirmed as an actual "error". Again, not worth much (supposedly five bucks) but cool to have. I also have some pics of an old Shell Gas Station "Facts and Faces" Coin Game/Promotion that my father recently gave me. The date on the display reads 1969 and apparently the "coins" were made by the Franklin Mint. I believe they are made from aluminum but they look great and have lots of detail. I'll post individual pics of the coins this weekend. If anyone has any info on them it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for stopping by...
